❌ MyPhones app was not installed

🔍 Problem:

After downloading the APK file and trying to install it, you may see the message:

"App not installed" or "MyPhones app was not installed"

This is a common issue when installing apps outside the Play Store (sideloading APKs), especially on newer Android versions.

🧭 Cause:

  1. Google Play Protect blocks the installation by default. Since MyPhones.app is not listed on Google Play, it is flagged as “unknown” or “potentially harmful” even if it’s safe.

  2. Device Security Settings prevent unknown sources. The device may not allow apps to be installed from your browser or file manager.

  3. APK Corruption or incomplete download. If the APK was not downloaded completely, Android may silently fail to install it.

✅ How to Fix:

1. Allow Unknown Apps to Install

  • Go to: Settings → Security → Install unknown apps

  • Grant permission to the browser or file manager you used to download the APK (e.g., Chrome)

2. Disable Play Protect (temporarily)

⚠️ Use with caution. Only do this if you trust the app source (e.g., from get.myphones.app)

  • Open Google Play Store

  • Tap your profile icon → Play Protect → Settings

  • Turn off "Scan apps with Play Protect"

🔁 You can re-enable it after installation is complete.

3. Re-download the APK

💡 Pro Tip:

Some Android versions require restarting the phone or clearing Play Store cache after changing install settings.
